Where It All Began- Part 2

Where It All Began- Part 2

Where were we? Ah yes- Sending our oldest to a foreign country. I mean Texas. Same thing. We knew no one. My only memories of Texas were from 1998, when I suffered the July oppressive heat and humidity in Houston for 6 weeks of Inflight Training. Fun times. After that, once I went online, I don't think I ever left the Houston Marriott Hotel at the airport on a domestic layover. In the Fall of 2016, when G was applying to colleges (may have been Spring), we were GREEN. I mean, things had changed from when we went to college. Neither Ted nor I had ventured too far from home for school and besides that, times were different. Can you relate?

Anyhow, we overpaid (hired) a College Consultant to educate us. The irony. In that process, G applied to 12 schools (maybe 15, but who's counting?). A handful were in California, but most of them were out of country(state, whatever...). On that list, were SMU and TCU, in Dallas and Fort Worth, TX respectively. "Mom, can we go on some college tours in TX?" Umm what? A college tour? Gone were the days of your college visits consisting of a trip to the Guidance Counselor's office and being handed 50 brochures (if you were lucky) to your most viable options for being accepted into the fold of Academia. "Yes! Girls trip! Let's do it." Put in time for time off at work. A wise co-worker named Dawn (you know who you are) gently said "If you are going all the way out there, might as well add Baylor to your visit. That is all I am going to say." Hmmm, ok. Decided to hide my ignorance and refrain from asking where or what it was. Did some digging, and we added the drive to Waco to the itinerary. Besides, there were some people there named Chip and Joanna who were doing some cool things, I guess?

ok time for another break. I promise all of this is relevant and we will get there. Bring some popcorn next time!

Since we talked about travel, if you are going to school out of state (or sending a chunk of your heart away) here are some great travel tools for the next 4 years.

All About Luggage: I know hard shell suitcases are all the rage nowadays, but this world traveller still trusts TravelPro. They have a Lifetime Limited Warranty and a pretty sweet repair program if ever needed. They hold up against some harsh beatings, especially when checked in. I will still share a variety of options:

  1. Medium and Carry On Set: https://mavely.app.link/e/9ejzYksyIUb
  2. Medium and Carry on Hardside Set: https://mavely.app.link/e/uzJ4IXFyIUb
  3. Crew Classic Carry On: https://mavely.app.link/e/fx4sXyNyIUb
  4. Carry on Set: https://mavely.app.link/e/fx4sXyNyIUb

I'll see ya in Part 3!
